Invisible Sun

WMV QuickTime
The children in this video montage were photographed by Bobby Sager while traveling the world with his family doing the work of their foundation. These children are dealing with war, conflict, natural disaster, abuse and displacement. The kids are from Afghanistan, Rwanda, Pakistan, Palestine, Sri Lanka, and Tibet. They are refugees, orphans, child soldiers or just plain kids living in absurdly difficult circumstances. These aren't just random snapshots while walking down the street. Many of these children know the Sagers, and you can feel the connection in their eyes.
The images are purposely very close up, eyeball to eyeball. Hopefully, the viewer will feel they had encountered these kids and not simply looked at their pictures.
Bottom line, these are real children, facing real issues, in some of the most desperate places in the world, but the real payoff are the pictures of strength and happiness that give us hope that even in the midst of tremendous hardship, the human spirit finds a way to persevere and overcome; the power of the Invisible Sun.
How can we all help the world's children hold on to their hope?
Concrete baby steps matter.

We have made a commitment to travel the world with the hope that we can instigate the efforts of other leaders. Every single thing that we do has to do with people who we call leaders: People who have the opportunity to impact lots of other people.
We empower leaders in areas of conflict and in dire circumstances by walking the talk ourselves, leading by example and by getting our hands dirty. By being hands-on you end up with a better result because the people you are trying to help see that you are willing to do what is necessary to make it work, including making yourself uncomfortable. The purest and most powerful kind of charity is helping people who are directly opposite of whom you are.
HOW WE EMPOWER LEADERS:
- We provide opportunity through micro enterprise in Rwanda and Palestine.
- We train Afghan women doctors to teach community healthcare workers so that they can become leaders in their families and communities.
- We educate leaders by providing scholarships though the Mousab Khourma Foundation.
- We train teachers in Pakistan.
- We bring together community activists and help them leverage off one another to be better community leaders through the Lenny Institute.
- We teach Western science to high Tibetan monks who are the next generation of leadership in the Tibetan monasteries.
- We work with young business leaders through the Young President's Organization (YPO) who through their ability and network have the potential to impact millions of people around the world.
Wrapped around all of this is Bobby's personal effort in going around the world speaking to leaders (entrepreneurs). He talks about the idea that concrete baby steps matter, that an entrepreneur's skill set is a special resource in identifying these making-a-difference issues, that an entrepreneur can shift his/her skills into the area of making a difference to make a special impact, and that self interest is a critical sustainable driver.
As the founding member of the Peace Action Network in the Young President's Organization, the co-founder of the Presidents Action Network in the World Presidents Organization, and as the first ever recipient (after over 50 years) of the YPO Global Humanitarian Award, Bobby gives an average of a dozen speeches a year to entrepreneurs around the world. The last 12 months have included, interviewing the Dalai Lama in Buenos Aires, speaking to YPOers in Muscat, Lahore, Miami, Vancouver, New York and Boston, a Peace Action Network initiative in Tel Aviv, UN Global Compact in Cleveland, Wealth and Giving Forum in Scottsdale, Tibetan Monks in India at the Science for Monks Workshop and the UNICEF dinner in London.
